This fortnight, Nick and Alastair feel the otherworldly presences of the Doctor himself in Doctor Who, plus a big citycrushing lizard in Godzilla Minus One.
But first, Nick’s caught up with four spacefaring seasons of For All Mankind, while Alastair’s keeping on with the 2023-movie theme by finally watching M3gan.
After all that, they take off in the TARDIS with Doctor Who (15:04) to encounter horrifying evil gods, space racism and total spoilers for the entire first Ncuti Gatwa series. You have been warned.
Last of all, they return to last year’s movies with Godzilla Minus One (39:57), now that the media gods finally see fit to make it available to mere UK citizens. Did it warrant all that praise? Just how serious and chinstroking is it? (Full spoilers here as well, be aware.)

New cinematic universes sprout like weeds this fortnight, as Nick and Alastair cover Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and Dead Boy Detectives, a new Sandman-adjacent Netflix show.
Finally, they investigate Dead Boy Detectives (33:20), and Nick is right on hand to compare it to a BBC fantasy series from the late 2000s.
This fortnight, Nick and Alastair cover two big adaptations – millennial nostalgia event X-Men ’97 and post-apocalyptic game-based series Fallout.
Last of all, neither Nick nor Alastair has ever played the games, but they’re going to review Fallout (27:28) nonetheless.
This fortnight, an exercise in extreme contrast with thoughtful historical drama Shogun and cartoonish high school comedy Bottoms.
Last of all, it’s Bottoms (
This fortnight, Nick and Alastair confront the hideous present-future in Civil War, then retreat into a cosy fantastical past with Renegade Nell.
Lastly, the whimsical fantasy of Renegade Nell (34:48) leaves Nick to reminisce about his good old days as a TV reviewer. Hopefully at some point he’ll remember to review the show.
Nick and Alastair make a mockery of their podcast name this fortnight, tackling two releases where the violence is definitely not moderate – Invincible season 2 and Monkey Man.
Lastly, it’s Monkey Man (
The podcast is firmly back on Nick’s superhero territory this fortnight, with the second season of power-based sitcom Extraordinary and the first two issues of the new Ultimate Spider-Man series from Marvel Comics.
A big fortnight for Alastair, with his annual Oscar-predictions audio extravaganza and the new Dune movie, plus bonus piracy with the return of Our Flag Means Death.
And it’s a similar question for cult favourite pirate romcom Our Flag Means Death season 2 (36:52, ending spoilers from 43:34) as they return to follow up their acclaimed first season and… quickly get cancelled. Dammit.
Some seasonal February dark moments of the soul this fortnight, as Nick and Alastair tackle The Iron Claw and the new Mr & Mrs Smith show.
Lastly, less miserable but still not… total joy, it’s the Mr & Mrs Smith (
This fortnight, Nick and Alastair cover two different ends of the movie spectrum – thoughtful current Oscar-contender American Fiction and last year’s loud, slimy family adventure Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.
And last of all, it’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (
