This fortnight, Nick and Alastair cover Fantastic Four: First Steps, one of the year’s big comic adaptations, and The Old Guard 2, another one.

But before that, Nick’s read Saucer Country, a political UFO thriller comic by Paul Cornell and Ryan Kelly, while Alastair’s seen The Ballad of Wallis Island, a new comedy movie starring Tim Key.

After which, they take off into another new dimension in the MCU with Fantastic Four: First Steps (17:10), somehow without dropping too many spoilers outside of stuff that was in the trailer.

And last of all, they settle in for The Old Guard 2 (33:22), following up the previous enjoyable adaptation of the comic by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez.

This fortnight, Nick and Alastair discuss two new metallic superhero releases, as the Man of Steel returns to cinemas in Superman, and the latest Marvel TV show arrives in the form of Ironheart.

But first, Alastair’s seen the Japanese dark comedy movie Baby Assassins, while Nick’s watched the first season of new Apple TV scifi comedy Murderbot.

After which, it’s up, up and away with Superman (15:05) as they discuss whether the biggest superhero release of the year lives up to expectations, with impressively few spoilers.

Last of all, it’s time for Ironheart (36:43), which, conversely, they discuss with moderate spoilers from 41:59, and then fully ruinous ending spoilers from 48:11. Oh well.

This fortnight, Nick and Alastair struggle for survival in the zombie dystopia of The Last of Us season 2, not to mention the alien hunting ground of Predator: Killer of Killers.

But first, Nick’s read a whole prose fantasy trilogy (wow), specifically The Rampart Trilogy by M.R. Carey, and Alastair’s listened to new record A Sober Conversation by BC Camplight.

And then it’s into the woods for another year of famously miserable mushroom zombie action in The Last Of Us season 2 (13:18), featuring spoilers for a big early-doors plot twist from 19:10.

Last of all, they’ve also seen Predator: Killer of Killers (28:16), a new animated anthology giving us fresh angles on cinema’s greatest killer.
