This fortnight, Nick and Alastair cover a popular character from much smaller screens, trying to make their way into the movies – yes, it’s Cocaine Bear. They also saw the new Luther film.
But first, Nick’s listened to new Sleaford Mods album UK GRIM, while Alastair’s attempting his regular annual Oscar predictions, underneath which Nick has added his regular annual buzzing noises.
After all that, it’s off to the woods to huff some Cocaine Bear (14:29) and find out whether it’s worth watching the whole film in addition to the trailer.
Lastly, forever-staring cop Luther returns in Luther: The Fallen Sun (24:07) on Netflix. Will glossy cinema budgets blunt Idris Elba’s edge?

This fortnight, Nick and Alastair don their capes and take flight in this all-superpowers episode, featuring Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania and Extraordinary.
Last of all, our heroes get wrecked and talk about urine with fun new Disney+ superpower sitcom Extraordinary (27:24).
It’s the episode of Alastair’s dreams this fortnight, as our heroes finally discuss two Oscar Best Picture nominees back to back – The Banshees of Inisherin, followed by Triangle of Sadness.
And last of all, Triangle of Sadness (
Nick and Alastair continue scouring the remainder of 2022 for all the best outstanding media, this fortnight covering Our Flag Means Death and Newburn.
Lastly, they also try the first volume of Newburn (
Nick and Alastair start 2023 the same way they do most years – with leftover culture from the previous one, specifically Slow Horses season 2 and Netflix movie White Noise.
After which, they go undercover into the world of Slow Horses (


Merry Christmas Violence! Yes, it’s the annual somewhat festive special, this year covering The Peripheral (no Christmas content) and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (lots of it).
After all that, they log in to The Peripheral (9:45), Amazon’s new cyberpunk thriller based on a William Gibson novel. Includes lengthy chat about the plot and themes, plus spoilers for a big plot turn in the second episode.
This fortnight, Nick and Alastair knuckle down for some premium telly with new Star Wars series Andor and eagerly awaited boat show 1899.
Finally, they’ve also seen all of 1899 (26:13), the new series about mystery on a boat from the creators of their beloved Dark. Can it possibly live up to that legacy? Be aware, they go into full show-ruining spoilers from 33:57.
